The Macon Area Career and Technical Education Center (MACTEC) is now accepting applications for an additional Health Occupations Instructor for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
- Preferably minimum of two years of professional nursing experience
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Eligible to obtain a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate or meet eligibility through one of the following pathways:
- Verification of 6,000 hours of direct occupational experience in the health services field within the past 10 years
- Associate’s degree in a health-related field and 5,000 hours of related employment
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and 4,000 hours of related employment
Job Goal: The Health Occupations Instructor provides students with rigorous, industry-aligned instruction in the health sciences field, preparing them for entry-level employment, advanced training, and industry-recognized certifications. This position ensures high-quality hands-on learning, clinical skill development, and professional expectations that reflect current healthcare standards. The instructor will also collaborate with MACTEC staff, community partners, and clinical sites to support student success and maintain program compliance.
Working Conditions: This position requires working in classroom, laboratory, and clinical environments. Collaboration with students, families, faculty, clinical partners, and community agencies is expected. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for clinical supervision, events, or professional responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Provide high-quality instruction aligned with current healthcare standards, safety practices, and DESE requirements.
- Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials such as CNA, CPR, First Aid, Phlebotomy, EKG, and other health-related certifications.
- Maintain accurate instructional records, skills checklists, clinical hours, and compliance documentation.
- Develop and update curriculum, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials reflecting current health science practices.
- Create opportunities for hands-on skill development, simulation, and real-world application.
Clinical Supervision
- Coordinate and supervise students during clinical experiences in accordance with state guidelines.
- Maintain strong partnerships with healthcare facilities to ensure safe, compliant, and meaningful clinical learning opportunities.
- Evaluate student performance in clinical settings and provide timely feedback.
Student Support & Professional Skills
- Reinforce professional expectations, employability skills, HIPAA awareness, and workplace ethics.
- Provide guidance on career pathways, postsecondary opportunities, and workforce readiness.
- Implement and document accommodations as outlined in IEP/504/ELL plans in collaboration with MACTEC support staff.
- Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or needs to the Career Center Director and Student Services Coordinator.
Program Coordination & Partnerships
- Assist with program recruitment, outreach, and public relations efforts to promote Health Sciences pathways.
- Maintain required program records, certifications, and state compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with sending schools, families, community partners, and MACTEC staff to support student success.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Career Center Director.
