The Macon R-1 School District is seeking a Speech/Language Pathologist for the 2024/2025 school year.

Qualifications:

? Must be licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Missouri
? Must obtain a current State of Missouri certificate issued by the Department of Education
? Effective organizational skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Provides speech and language screening for referred students and those requiring follow-up.
2. Conducts diagnostic evaluations utilizing available diagnostic data, to identify and assess the needs of students with suspected articulation, language, voice, or severe communication deficits.
3. Makes medical referrals, in conjunction with the Director of Special Education and building nurse for students with suspected hearing loss, voice disorder aphasic disorder, or cleft palate.
4. Serves as a member of multidisciplinary evaluation teams, as needed, and as the evaluator of a student with suspected communication disorder, to assess developmental levels and functional communication abilities.
5. Participates in initial and annual IEP meetings and case reviews as necessary.
6. Provides direct and indirect therapy to correct, treat, or alleviate speech and language impairments using a variety of instruction techniques appropriate to the student’s needs 

7. Provides services through both a "speech improvement program" and/or Response to Intervention (RTI) model.
8. Demonstrates skill in establishing and maintaining classroom management that is conducive to learning.
9. Provide services to students in the least restrictive setting (LRE)
10. Collaborates with and advises parents and educational personnel regarding appropriate intervention, practice, or remediation strategies
11. Communicates and works effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members

12. Follows district policies
13. Potential supervision of Speech-Language Pathology Assistants or Implementers; based on district and MO-DESE requirements
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Terms of Employment:
Nine month contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent.
